The Horry County Memorial Library System authorizes photography and videography in Library facilities as follows:

Classes or events sponsored by the Library may be photographed or filmed by the Library’s staff or representatives. Attendance at a Library sponsored class or event constitutes the consent of all attendees, including the consent of the parents or legal guardians of any minor children in attendance, to the future broadcast, publication, or other use of photographs and videos at the sole discretion of Horry County Government and the Horry County Memorial Library.

Patron photography and filming is permitted in the public areas of Library facilities, provided that it does not interfere in any way with Library operations or capture any identifiable likenesses of individuals without their permission. Any such photographers or filmers are responsible for arranging all necessary permissions for patrons being photographed or filmed. Under no circumstance, may anyone take a photograph of or film a patron without the consent of the patron or their parent/guardian.

No commercial or media photography or filming may occur in Library facilities without the prior written permission and approval of the Library Director. Such approval shall contain the conditions under which the commercial/media photography or filming will take place and address the rights to ownership of the photography/films.

The Library may utilize photographs and videos from programs and events at Library facilities on its website and in Library publications. Photographs and videos submitted to the Library by patrons may also be used by the Library for promotional purposes. To ensure the privacy of all individuals, including children, images will not be identified using full names or personal identifying information without written permission from the photographed subject, parent, or guardian.

Any patrons wishing to remove consent from the above mentioned activities will need to speak directly to Library staff. Removal of consent is on a case by case basis and does not cover all future Library events.

The Library Director is responsible for the establishment and administration of this policy.
