Food and Beverage

The Horry County Memorial Library allows food and beverages within its locations under the following guidelines:

 

·       Foods are limited to pre-packaged snacks, finger foods, or wrapped items that are odor-free and unlikely to leave stains. Messy and smelly foods are to be avoided.

 

·       Group meals (ie. pizza parties) and food delivery are not permitted in the Library unless it is in a meeting room or for a library-sponsored program.

 

·       Beverages are allowed only if they are covered (ex: spill-proof cup, screw-top container). No open containers are allowed.

 

·       No alcoholic beverages are allowed.

 

·       Food and beverages, other than covered drink containers, are not allowed near the Library’s computers, in computer labs, or in the Conway Local History room.

 

·       Patrons may consume food while using their own equipment away from the Library’s computers.

 

·       Infants may be nursed or fed from bottles in any area of the Library.

 

·       Food and beverages are allowed in Library meeting rooms as detailed in the Meeting Room Policy.

 

·       Patrons must immediately report spills to staff.

 

·       Patrons are responsible for any damage done to Library property.

 

·       Patrons are expected to leave no trace. All trash must be discarded of after eating or drinking. Any food or beverage left unattended will be disposed of by staff.

 

·       The Library is not responsible for monitoring its buildings for allergens.

 

Refusal to follow this policy will result in the patron being required to dispose of their food or beverage immediately or to leave the library.

 

The Library Director is responsible for the establishment and administration of this policy.
